Friends of the Towans is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to protecting, preserving, and promoting the unique coastal dune system known as the Towans, located in West Cornwall. The organisation needed a modern, accessible website to better communicate their mission, support volunteer efforts, and share important information with the local community and visitors.
I was brought on to design and develop a brand-new website that would serve as both a hub for public engagement and a practical tool for managing the organisation’s activities.
Project Goals:
- Create a visually engaging and easy-to-navigate website that reflects the beauty and ecological importance of the Towans.
- Provide clear information about conservation efforts, events, and how to get involved.
- Increase visibility for the organisation and encourage more community participation and support.
Key Features Delivered:
- Responsive Design: Optimised for mobile, tablet, and desktop use to ensure accessibility for all users.
- Volunteer Hub: Easy access to information about upcoming volunteering opportunities and how to participate.
- Events List: A dynamic list for walks, talks, art events and conservation days.
- News & Updates Section: Allows the various sections to post updates, news, and conservation reports.
- Donation & Support Options: Clear pathways for visitors to support the organisation financially or through active involvement.
The new site has helped Friends of the Towans reach a broader audience, improved volunteer coordination, and strengthened the group’s ability to advocate for this important natural landscape.
